Safe Storage of Firearms
Secure Storage Practices to Reduce Gun Violence
Secure Storage Practices to Reduce Gun Violence
Introduction
As an educational institution committed to nurturing young minds, we recognize the critical importance of fostering a secure environment that enables our students to learn, grow, and thrive. Central to this commitment is our dedication to promoting responsible firearm ownership and safe storage practices within our community.
As part of the annual notification when you enrolled your child in school for the 2023-24 school year, families received information about California State Law that makes it a crime for a person to negligently store or leave any firearm on their premises in a location where they know or reasonably should know that a child is likely to gain access to it, unless reasonable action is taken to secure the firearm to prevent the child from accessing it.
We believe that creating a safe and secure learning environment goes hand in hand with equipping our students, families, and staff with the knowledge and tools they need to ensure their safety both at school and at home.
